Gravikov just seems like a slower fedor tyutin ....doubt he will challenge Murray for a spot.

Hate to keep beating a dead horse but Josh Anderson is the player to worry about more than either D-man (JJ or Murray). Anderson is the most likely to be drafted if he's exposed.

If it comes down to the D-men I hope JJ goes, only because he is older with a bigger cap hit. I still think Murray can be a top pair d-man in the NHL and maybe someone that can be traded in a package for top-line scorer (i.e. trade w/Colorado?).

Mind you we're talking about the guy who traded Martin freaken Erat for Forsberg , but Mcphee would be a fool to pass on Murray or JJ , good puck movers at a reasonable price.

good question.

i'm guessing some sort of package of expansion exempt prospects and picks is what c-bus needs....

sabres have an extra 2nd and 3rd rounder i think. some younger nhl forwards who are exempt as well.

Just hard to gauge his true value...something like Gudbransons or more?

Maybe.

From the leafs, that would be kapanen and a 2nd. Seems a little light....

edit: on 2nd thought i'm not sure. murray is way down the depth chart and doesn't have the greatest stats.

Johnson is brutal defensively, and likely in decline. I pray Vegas takes him from you.

Actually JJ was moved to the 2nd pairing and had a really good year. Something like +23. He'd always played #1 pair and struggled but a very good 2nd pair with Savard. They may actually protect him now. Great team guy as well.

Yeah, it is hard to gauge his value right now. Last year he was on the top pair, played in the World Cup for the u-23 team, and only ended up on the third pair because Savard and Johnson were put together as a pair and Werenski was such a pleasant surprise.

He played pretty well last year and I assume the CBJ do not see him as a 3rd pair D-man, because he isn't one. He'd be the #1 D-man in Vegas if they take him, so anyone who wants him in a trade is going to have pony up something more than low round picks in a supposedly bad draft and/or bottom six offensive players.

It's going to take more than that. He's a 23 yr. old D-man, with a lot of talent who has played well on bad CBJ teams and when healthy played great in the playoffs for the CBJ. the CBJ front office is not going to take low-ball offers for a top 4 (or top-2) d-man on almost every other team in the league because we have a very deep defense corps as of now.

Since the draft is by all accounts not very good this year I would assume a #2 draft pick is not close to being enough to get him. This team needs a top line scorer up front to compete for the Stanley Cup, not developmental players.
